TONE SERIES is an ephemeral French music label dedicated to deep-house music. The project is originally inspired by David K and the different colours that emerge from his music. The name ‘TONE SERIES’ brings together the idea of interdependence between music and design: what colour follows on from music and, in return, which musicality comes out of a colour.
As big fans of Moscow’s underground club scene, we’re delighted to be hosting our first label night ever in the city that never sleeps.
> Traumer (gettraum, FR)
Rising star of the French underground scene, Traumer has made himself a name as a music producer with releases on big and more underground labels like Berg Audio for instance, that have put him in the spotlight and given an international flavour to his DJ career.
Early 2016, he launched his own playground gettraum, presenting a deeper and more underground side of his influences. Traumer will soon present his new imprint ‘HUA’ (flower in Chinese) inspired by his recent travel in the Far East nation.
An early fan of TONE SERIES, Traumer hast just remixed — alongside Japanese artist Tomoki Tamura — one of David K’s original compositions, kicking the TONE SERIES Remix Series (TSRS01) off. TSRS01 will be out in the mid of November.
> David Kemoun (David K) (Lumières La Nuit Ltd, TONE SERIES, FR)
With multiple collaborations on Phil Week’s Robsoul label, Dan Ghenacia’s & David Duriez now-defunct label Freak’n’Chic and Sven Väth’s Cocoon (2007) among others, David K is one of the most complete musicians that the French underground scene has known until today.
In 2014, he released his first album ‘Out Of Range’ on Tiefschwarz’s Souvenir. 2014 marked also David’s comeback with Dan Ghenacia. He released ‘Middle-Aged Romance’ on Apollonia which opens one of the four-discs (ENTER.Terrace mixed by Apollonia) from Hawtin’s ENTER.Ibiza 2014 compilation series.
Besides his many releases in solo, David K distinguishes himself also as a remixer for underground labels as well as more commercial ones as illustrated by his remix Guy Gerber & Puff Daddy’s ‘Tourist Trap’ (’11 11’ album) on Guy’s Rumors label… And this is just a glimpse of over 20 years experience in the electronic music industry.
> Bvoice (Fellows, RU)
Whether it is as a DJ, music composer or promoter, Vasily Bvoice is one of Moscow’s most active figures in the underground scene and keep on moving forward twenty years later…
From the Kazantip Republic to Epizode festival on the Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam) through the jungles of Columbia, from deepmix.ru to Megapolis 89'5 FM - Moscow through NightclubberRo, from labels FOX TRAX to BodyParts records through Heisenberg and collaborative working with dOP, Pier Bucci and Hatikvah), Bvoice is keeping on branding his hometown Moscow every year a little further, as shown by Fellows parties he hosts at Squat 3/4, Bessonniza and Gazgolder, inviting live act guests like Vadim Svoboda, Half Hawaii and Mathew Johnson among others.
> D.A.L.I. (Swoon, RU)
There is a very little public awareness of Moscow’s club scene and this for different reasons. But people who know it would tell you that it’s one of the best and the most flourishing worldwide whether it is about the clubs or those local artists that rock them, making their scene both underground and attracting. One of them is Moscow based DJ and music producer D.A.L.I., active in the scene since 2000.
As a music producer, D.A.L.I. has released various digital (Little Helpers) and vinyl EPs (Kina Music, Memoria and Nurum). At the end of 2015, D.A.L.I. and Dubfound launched vinyl only micro-house music label Swoon.
> Edouard aka Dooks (Lumières La Nuit Ltd, TONE SERIES, FR)
With a strong focus on media and music — and a deep passion for languages (English, German and Russian), Edouard works as a music journalist before devoting himself to musical and visual projects.
From 2009, and in despite of an anchored Parisian culture, Edouard has moved successively to Frankfort, Berlin and then London before moving back to his hometown Paris in 2016.
A former member of the Cracki DJ-roster and the SUPERNOVA project, Dooks brings in 2014 to life the project he has always envisioned: LumièresLaNuit (dub- & deep-techno), followed by TONE SERIES (deep-house), An Der Grenze (techno) and more recently Bleu Nuit (breakbeat). In 2015, he hosted a couple of LumièresLaNuit label showcases at Club der Visionäre and 60 Hz (Berlin, DE), Bootleg (Bordeaux, FR), Batofar and Nouveau Casino (Paris).
